What to Expect on a Winter Cruise

Fred Olsen's Borealis Cruising to Northern Norrway

Is Cruising in Winter a Good Idea?

As cruising from the UK continues to skyrocket in popularity, an increasing number of cruise lines are choosing to keep some of their fleet sailing from the UK throughout the year. Considering that, until the last few years, almost every cruise line would do a summer season out of the UK before sending their ships to warmer climbs in October, you'd be sensible to ask if it's worth booking a winter cruise. Personally, winter is one of my favourite times to cruise so I'm here to set your expectations before you book!

10 Christmas Gifts to Wow any Travel Lover

Christmas gifts for travel lovers

Hey Owlets,

Giving season is fast approaching and if you’re anything like me you’re probably already wondering what to get the difficult person in your family. Like many other travel lovers, I’m the difficult person in my family - what do you get someone who’s always on the move? If they are at home then it’s probably only to save up and plan for the next trip.

You don’t need to worry this year, I have you covered! I’ve researched, discussed with other travel addicts and scoured the internet to find the best gifts for travel lovers - whether they’re at home between trips or out on adventures. As usual, I’ve personally tested every single item in my guide so that you can be sure whatever you buy will be a hit with your travel-loving special someone. I’ve also included gifts at a range of price points, so you’re guaranteed to find a great gift no matter what your budget is.

How To Shop the Black Friday Sales on a Budget

How to find the best black friday deals uk

Hey Owlets,

There’s Christmas music playing in the supermarket (earlier again this year!), Black Friday is here, there’s pressure to buy Christmas gifts and apparently 2020 is the gift that keeps on giving, because having navigated multiple lockdowns and a global health crisis, we’re now faced with the challenge of heating our homes, looking after our loved ones and enjoying the festive season with next to no budget (I write this as I’m in pyjamas and a wearable blanket, under a duvet for warmth). The pressure to spend more is huge at this time of year, and with the festive season looming a lot of people are turning to the Black Friday sales to try and make their money stretch further.

The issue, as I’m sure most of you are aware, is that Black Friday is just one giant marketing tactic and a ploy to get you to part ways with your hard-earned cash. So before you dive head-first into the sales, here are a few tips to help you shop without breaking the bank.

A Christmas Card

Hey Owlets,

Every year I spend hours writing a Christmas post - it takes time out of seeing my family and no one reads it until after Christmas Day because they're with their families, so I thought I would scale back a little this year and keep it simple...

Merry Christmas everyone!!

I hope whatever you're doing you have the best day, eat too much food, laugh a lot and spend it with the people closest to you.

Love and Feathers,
