Partying at The Harbour Festival!

Hey Owlets!

We are incredibly lucky in Bristol to be part of a city where music, art and creativity are at the forefront. Every year this is celebrated in a wide variety of festivals but there are a few in particular that bring people from all over the South West to party in the sunshine. I'm always there behind the scenes with Bradley Stoke Radio at the Cascade Steps stage so I wanted to bring you along with me and tell you a bit about my weekend and some of the amazing people I met there.

One of my favourite Bristol bands that played over the weekend is Circe's Diner. They were one of the main acts on the Sunday of the festival but they're super chilled out and were perfect to relax in the sunshine listening to. The band have supported BSR and joined us in the studio so many times, as well as being some of the nicest people you would want to chat to.

First of all, this guy is awesome. Let's just get that out there. He is part of the band "The Don Fox Scandal". They're based in Chepstow and they're one of those bands that you look at and think "why aren't you more famous?" They play this funk/rock/ Panic! At The Disco type sound which is amazing. Their Pocket Watch Paradox EP is amazing and I've been listening to it on repeat for a week straight.

On the subject of bands that should be more famous than they are is London based Josephine and The Artizans (JATA), who invented a whole new genre for their music to sit in. Josephine describes their sound as "hip-hopera". Two rappers, an opera singer and a band of classical instruments creates this amazing mash up of classical music and hip-hop. I was initially skeptical when I read about them, but they are amazing andI now have all three EPs added to my iTunes.

Special mention has to go to this guy though. He has no name, but spent the entire time singing back to Josephine and strangely was actually pretty good. He then wandered round for a good hour after JATA's set performing his version of opera to anyone who'd listen. He was completely mad but a pretty cool guy. Someone get him a set next year.

If telling you about the harbour festival has given you FOMO then don't worry - I vlogged so you didn't have to miss anything, and if you want to listen to my favourite bands of the weekend I've created you a Spotify playlist so you can feel like you're there.

Who was your favourite from the weekend? Let me know in the comments below.
