Hey Owlets,
Ibiza is a hugely popular island for holidays, but it’s often only considered as a party destination. It’s true, Ibiza does have an incredible night life, but everyone already knows about that and there is so much more to the island than just bars and clubs. So if you’re not the partying kind of person, or you’re just looking to get the best of both worlds from your holiday in Spain, then keep reading to explore the hidden part of the party island.
Explore the Incredible Natural Landscape -
While Ibiza is known as the party island, it’s actually one of the best places to explore nature. Spend a morning hiking the coastline and you’ll come across flawless beaches, awe-inspiring salt flats and unique wildlife. Ses Salines is a natural park on the island which is home to a whole host of wildlife - spend long enough at one of the many bird watching spots and you’ll be likely to bump into a wild flamingo.
Visit The Island’s Caves -
Yes this is quite similar to the first point about exploring the landscape, but exploring UNDER the island is a whole other ball game in my mind. There are several natural caves along the coastline that you can visit freely, as long as you’re careful and ensure you pay attention to the tide times. There are also several larger cave systems that you can explore with a guided tour. One of the most popular cave systems to visit is Cova De Can Marçà. Formed by the underground rivers and shaped by the tropical heat, the caves offer a completely unique experience that’s rich in history and absolutely stunning.
Take a Wellness Retreat-
One of the most popular reasons for visiting Ibiza after partying is actually wellness. There are a huge variety of all-inclusive wellness retreats on offer which often include classes, accommodation and meals which are created with optimal nutrition in mind. If you’re interested in improving your physical and mental wellbeing then wellness retreats could be great, but they’re also a little pricey and can be overwhelming for some people.
For a more relaxed and cost-effective wellness holiday, consider going a little more DIY. There are a plethora of stunning villas in Ibiza that you can book alone or with friends for your own personal retreat. Once you’re on the island you can attend some of the many classes on offer in beautiful coastal locations; expect to find various forms of yoga and meditation classes, as well as more intense workouts. Being based in your own private villa can make a wellness retreat feel less overwhelming, and you can also keep costs down by cooking for yourself. If you want to emphasise nutrition in your meals then consider looking online for recipes to follow.
Support Independent Businesses by Perusing the Boutiques -
Ibiza is often seen as a very chic island and a playground for the marginally wealthy, rather than the excessively rich, meaning you’ll find a boatload of beautiful independent shops which supply incredible pieces from local craftspeople without fully breaking the bank. Take a lazy afternoon stroll through the side streets and shop for opulent homewares or gorgeous clothing while supporting small local businesses.
Relax in the Beach Clubs -
Okay, the main point of beach clubs might be for those who enjoyed the night life to recuperate the next day, but who’s to say you can’t head there just to relax without feeling the result of last night’s antics? Beach clubs are pretty much an institution in Ibiza so whether you prefer soaking up the sun and sea views with a relaxing atmosphere or you want to party in the sun, you’ll find the perfect beach club for you.
There are so many things to do in Ibiza that don’t involve partying every night, so don’t worry if that’s not your scene. Next time you see a cheap flight to Ibiza, just book it. There is so much to entertain you on the island without reaching for the rave gear.
