5 Quick Confidence Tips

5 Quick Confidence tips

Hey Owlets,

In case you didn’t know, tomorrow is International Women’s Day. While I don’t tend to follow any of these type of things, I’m all for making people feel empowered so I thought I would write something that goes along the theme of the day. I’ve been meaning write my favourite quick confidence tips for a while, so today seems the perfect time for that.

Dress For Success

You know how sometimes you find a piece of clothing where you put it on and instantly feel like you could take on the world? If there’s ever a day when you need a little boost of confidence, try to incorporate that into your outfit and I guarantee you’ll feel great. If you have a few pieces that make you feel good try to pick out what it is you like about them or what the pieces have in common, and that should help you shop for something that will make you feel amazing. Try to have at least one “confident item” in each category - shoes, top, jeans, skirt etc. That way you can always pair an outfit that makes you feel good.

Keep a Compliment Record

As much as your probably brush them off, it’s quite likely that you get complimented several times a week and don’t even notice. If someone pays you a compliment, keep a note of it so that when you’re feeling low you can look back and remember what’s been said to you. If you wanted to make it prettier you could write them on coloured paper and put them in a jar so that you can pull out random compliments every time.

Fake It

I know some of you might not believe me, but I’m not the most confident person. I still struggle sometimes, but by forcing myself to look confident I’m more conscious of specifically what insecurities that I’m trying to hide, and I find a way to work around them. By faking confidence, it tricks your brain and makes you feel better.

Learn To Laugh

It’s easy when you mess up to be conscious about it, and that becomes an insecurity and can make you feel less confident. If you can find a way to laugh at yourself, it takes the pressure away from “I’ve messed up”, and laughing will make you feel more at ease. I can’t really say how you learn to laugh at yourself. It’s just one of those things that happens as you get older.

Find your Invincible Music

We all love feel good music, but sometimes there are those songs that as soon as you listen to them you feel like you can tackle anything. Every time you find those songs, add it to a “Confidence Playlist”, when you need a mood boost, put your earphones in and press play to feel instantly better. I’ve put my playlist below too in case you need some inspiration!
