The Christmas Tag: Blogmas 2017

Hey Owlets,

HAPPY BLOGMAS!!!

If you don't know what that is, it's where a few brave (or mad) bloggers write a blog post every day of the festive season; no way am I going to manage that but I do have a lot of Christmas content planned. I decided today, to mark the first day that Dad won't tell me off for playing Christmas music, I thought I'd give you a bit of a preview of what I'm planning, as well as completing a Christmas tag blog post as a bit of an intro!

So, the plan...

I put together the ultimate present buying guides for you, so these will be going out every day over the next few days. After that, I'm aiming for two to three festive blog posts a week right up until 2018!

I'll also of course be getting festive on all my social media, so make sure you follow me there too, especially on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Now, onto the tag!

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?

This is an easy one to answer - White Christmas, obviously!! My family have a tradition that every year we watch White Christmas at some point in the first week of December. We all know it off by heart, but it's not Christmas if we haven't watched the film. Don't tell Dad, I may have already watched it without him and it definitely wasn't December when I watched it.

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

I don't even get to open them on Christmas morning! Our tradition is that Mum, Dad and I open the presents to each other in the morning, then presents to/from other people after lunch. This used to be absolute torture when I was younger because I was so impatient - now I'm older I'm no better, but now it's because I put a lot of thought into my family's presents so I'm excited to watch them open it rather than receive something from them.

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?

This is going to sound like a bit of a weird one so bare with me. If you've been reading The Owlet for a while, you know that I'm part of a radio station with my family, and this usually leads to some strange goings-on. We have a tradition that every year after our family leave we drive around the local area with a snow machine in the car, visiting our friends' houses to spread a bit of Christmas cheer. Turning up at their homes and blasting their gardens with fake snow and festive tunes is absolutely the highlight of my Christmas Day.

4. Favourite festive food?

Now that's a difficult question - can I say all of it? I love that at Christmas we splash out on things we wouldn't usually budget for during the year, so having things liked smoked salmon and boquerones in the fridge is a definite treat!

5. Favourite Christmas gift?

I honestly have no idea- my parents are always really kind so it's hard to choose. For me, I prefer to give presents than receive them, and my favourite gifts that I give my family are always personalised. I think it makes it that extra bit special when they open something with their name on it.

6. Favourite Christmas scent?

Something by Jo Malone definitely!! Probably something like lime basil and mandarin, or cardamom and mimosa. They're such warm scents and even though I wear them all year round, they're particularly nice around the festive season.

7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

I'm not particularly religious, but the church at the top of our road holds a carols by candlelight concert on Christmas eve, and I'm pretty sure that we've gone every year since I was 6 or 7. I definitely struggle to remember a time that we haven't attended together.

8. What tops your tree?

Originally it was a slightly creepy looking angel, but Dad didn't like decorating the tree every year so we got a fiberoptic one that had a light up star at the top (not my choice - I love decorating!). However, when Dad was ill last year he left me in charge (stupid decision!) so we now have a Christmas tree that bends over at the top because I got carried away, so now the ceiling tops the tree - but I do have an owl ornament to hang *near* the top.

9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?

I can't remember there ever being anything - I know I went through a phase of asking for every animal under the sun because I really wanted a pet, so I probably asked for a pet for Christmas at some point, but I don't remember anything in particular!

10. What's the best part about Christmas for you?

Between being a blogger and being part of the radio station Christmas seems to start in November. For me my favourite part of Christmas is getting to attend loads of different events because I get to spend time with the people that I usually wouldn't get to see as often as I would like.

I hope you enjoyed this little intro to my festive content. Please let me know if you decide to complete this tag too, as I'd love to read your answers. And Merry Blogmas!!!
