My Favourite Winter Fashion Accessory

Morning my lovelies,

It's February!!! We are officially out of the slump month, but to be honest other than having a lot of uni work to do, January's not been much of a slump at all.

If you've seen me anywhere on social media, there's been two jackets that I have worn over the last few months in basically every photo. It seems that recently, bomber jackets have been everything, but not so much for me.

When I was at Bath Christmas Market in December I came across a small (permanent) shop selling coats. I've never noticed them before but they had a display outside and a cape caught my eye. It was love at first sight, so I tried it on despite thinking I would look like Little Red Riding Hood's fat cousin. Oh how wrong can I be?

There's something about wearing a cape that makes me feel like I've stepped straight out of the fairytales book in all the right way, and I think it can be so flattering if you're a larger lady.

The thing that's special about a cape is that it isn't fitted. If you wear a coat that isn't quite for you, it can show all the lumps and bumps that you'd rather weren't there, and give you a shape that maybe you'd prefer to be photoshopped.

Wearing a cape skims over everything you don't want to be on show. If you don't like the top of your arms it's perfect because it hides it. If you've got tummy wobbles you'd prefer weren't there, it covers that rather than clinging to it.

It's also really great for temperature regulation - it's a thick felt like fabric so it keeps out the wind and keeps you warm, but because of the openness of it, it doesn't overheat.

Capes are honestly amazing and I can't recommend them enough for plus size ladies. I love this one particularly because of the multi-tone fur and rose gold fastenings (you know I love rose gold!!). I also love it because I love to be unique, and I found this one in such a small shop that I'm pretty sure I'm never going to bump into anyone else wearing this.

If you're brave you could always go for something a little more patterned, but for me I love this navy blue as it's a bit different but goes with absolutely everything I own.

This is my favourite wintery accessory at the moment, but I'm always open to new ideas. What's your favourite? Let me know in the comments below.
