Behind the Scenes at Brooks Guest House!

*gifted experience

Hello Owlets!

I seem to be going up in the world reviewing a guest house! Okay well not a proper review, but is there a place that you've always been interested in visiting yet never gotten around to going? Well I was walking through St Nick's market a while ago and saw a building that said it was a guest house. I'd not noticed it before and it looked like it has landed out of nowhere as it was a beautiful old fashioned building in the middle of central Bristol.

So, when I was invited to attend a reception there to celebrate the new hotel opening, I was excited that I'd finally get a chance to peek inside. We were greeted with drinks and canapés with a lot of it being sourced locally to the new hotel.

When you walk in, there is a large reception area to the right and a small dining area on the left, and both look out onto the courtyard. Our host Carla was absolutely lovely, and I applaud her as she told us that she chose how to decorate the guest houses herself. The newly opened country house in Hereford is the fourth guest house, and Carla was telling us that each of the houses are decorated to have their own unique style.

After we'd had a few drinks and something to eat we were shown around a few of the guest rooms. The first thing is, we need to stop for a second because I am absolutely obsessed with Carla's choice of decor. I think it's beautiful and adds to the old-worldy feel of the building as well as making it feel cosy even though we're right in the middle of the city centre. A standard double room is between £67 and £80 as well, which I think is amazing for central Bristol. For comparison, the hotel off millennium square is £120 per night for the same stay.

However, the crowning glory of this guest house and the thing we were all  most excited to see were the air stream caravans on the roof. Carla's mad idea was to put a few airstream caravans on the roof to rent out as hotel rooms. I think they're absolutely amazing!

The thing that I loved is that Carla was so friendly from start to finish. We bumped into a hotel guest that was only staying there for two nights, but she greeted him happily by name. It just shows me how much she cares for each of their guest houses as well as how much she cares for the guests.

While obviously I can't do a proper review without staying there, but from everything I've seen, if you're looking for somewhere clean, cosy, central and friendly to stay in Bristol, then you absolutely want to look at Brooks. Thank you so much for inviting me along Carla, I really enjoyed it and I'm happy to finally have been able to look around somewhere I've been admiring for so long and I'm really excited to see where the new Hereford venture will lead!
