Adventures at Royal Ascot!

Morning Owlets!

The life of an average sized blogger is a strange one. Perhaps you make a few pennies here and there, but you blog because you love it and because it's your release from the world. But, despite enjoying where you are, there will always be social climbing tendencies - dreaming of being the next Fleur De Force with over a million subs on YouTube. As an average blogger, you watch the household names being flown around the world to meet fans and being invited to events that you could only dream of. Well, one day this month my dreams came true.

Growing up, I've always loved fashion and beauty - poured over the Sunday Times Magazine to scout the latest trends while Uncle Bob read the paper, and watching the well dressed ladies on TV while my Uncle Norm moaned at me for not taking an interest in the horses. To me, Royal Ascot was the unattainable dream. Since Adam and I have been together, any time Ascot or the Grand National appears on TV we take the afternoon to drink cocktails on the sofa while watching the races, saying "one day we'll be there". So when I opened my inbox to a message asking if I would like a pair of Appletiser's tickets, i near enough cried over my laptop.

This year, Appletiser celebrate their 50th birthday so decided to sponsor Royal Ascot as part of the celebrations. This meant that they received a few tickets to give away and chose the Blogosphere to do it.

(worst angle ever)

It's fair to say, I've never put so much effort into an outfit in my life! God bless my Nan, as she was to the rescue as usual. The dress I bought myself from ChiChi London in the style "Stevie", my blazer was borrowed from a relative- it's from Marks and Spencer but I couldn't find it online. I've found a similar pink blazer from Very for you, in case you love the jacket as much as I did!

The fascinator is from the British Heart Foundation shop - they sell them new but much cheaper than anywhere like Debenhams or Marks and Spencer, which is amazing as we all prefer to pay less for something we'll only wear once, and I'd always rather give to charity, especially a heart charity. My shoes are from Shoe Zone (I caved and didn't wear heels) and my jewellery was from Marks and Spencer and some from Portobello Road in London, which is hands down my favourite shopping destination!

When we got into the Queen Anne enclosure, we watched the Queen's parade, then got some drinks and placed our bets for the first race. I grew up choosing a horse for my Uncle Norm to bet on in the Grand National every year, and I always chose it going by the uniform I liked best and the most interesting names. Adam did try to explain odds to me, but I'm not the brightest blogger ever. I reverted back to my usual tactics of colours and names, which worked well as we came home with a profit! Something about watching the races made me feel like a 10 year old again, but actually being there was magical.

We bought a race card more for the keepsake side of it than anything else, but eventually we did almost get the hang of it! The day went so quickly it's insane. I think it's because we'd always wanted to go, the whole day just didn't feel real! At 5:30pm the last race commenced (we lost, unsurprisingly). We went to go and get something to eat before leaving Royal Ascot, and while we were getting dinner, the music from the singer in the Bandstand echoed out across the slowly emptying racecourse.

The whole day was incredible from start to finish. A week later, I still can't believe it actually happened and that my dream of going to Royal Ascot finally came true. Appletiser, you've made me the happiest girl in the world this past week, and truly I can't say thank you enough to convey how much it meant for me to be able to go to Royal Ascot. I may only be an "average sized blogger" but for 24 hours I got to feel like one of the big shots, and all I want to do is go back and relive the day.

If you want to follow us on our day, your wish is our command! We knew we'd want to keep reliving the day, and we wanted to take you with us, as without you my dream would never have come true! We vlogged the whole day so if you'd like to watch, just click above and enjoy. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
