Family-Friendly Holiday Destinations You Should Consider This Year

A good family holiday should be able to satisfy a few distinct criteria. Parents are usually looking for something low-hassle and relaxing, whilst little ones may be in search of novelty and entertainment. In recent years, the travel industry has seen a distinct shift toward memorable, exciting getaways. People are now travelling with meaning and purpose, making it easier for holidaymakers to plan experiences to satisfy every member of their group.

UK Coastal Breaks Are Back

There's a great deal to enjoy about coastal breaks throughout the UK. They’re often accessible, affordable, and they evoke a sense of nostalgia in adults that’s difficult to replicate overseas. More often than not, there are also many child-friendly activities located nearby, ranging from arcade games to mini golf and playgrounds. The convenience, along with the heatwave, explains why resort towns in the North East and South East saw a growth in visitors last summer.

European Getaways & Short Flight Times

Modern air travel means you can also easily fly to a nearby European holiday destination that is likely to offer better weather, as well as the chance to explore another culture. Choosing a short-haul trip often allows us to cut out the stress and hassle that comes with visiting an airport, including entertaining kids for hours on end, and it also means you don’t have to fight jet lag. Additionally, it can actually be quite affordable if you explore different holiday packages and consider more obscure nations.

Long-Haul Adventures for Something Different

If you want something a tad different or outside of Europe, consider some long-haul options. Countries a bit further away often offer a better climate, as well as new traditions and cultures to explore. Whilst they may seem far away, in reality, they aren’t too much further than other popular European holiday destinations. For example, trips to Morocco take between three and four hours, which isn’t too much longer than flights to Portugal or Spain - but, at the same time, you’ll get a cultural experience that’s distinctly North African.

Tips & Tricks to Make the Holiday Seamless

If you want your holiday to be enjoyable, then it’s worth planning things in advance. Make sure that you know how much you’re going to be spending, and that you set monthly targets for saving pots. Leave yourself a little bit of extra wriggle-room, in case you’re not able to save as much as you anticipated. Renew your passports where necessary, and check the entry requirements for the country you’re going to be staying in. Finally, you’ll also want to take out travel insurance in order to protect yourself in the event of an issue.
