Do You Need a GPS Tracker for Travelling?

GPS trackers have become massively popular in recent years. Whether you’re using a tracker as a way to ensure that your luggage reaches your destination, or as an extra layer of security for your car, there are several options available for you to choose from. I recently tested out a GPS tracking device from PAJ GPS, and I was thoroughly impressed! Keep reading to find out why you should get our own.

Who are PAJ GPS, and what should you use a tracker for?

PAJ GPS are a GPS tracker company based in Germany. They offer a range of devices to suit individual needs. The Vehicle Finder can be attached to a car battery so it always has power, while the Easy Finder offers a 14 day battery life and is perfect to slip in a suitcase to make sure it doesn’t get lost on your travels.

The post-pandemic world has come to rely massively on technology - particularly in the security sector. When you already have a smart doorbell and wireless CCTV cameras to protect your home, it also makes sense to track your items on the go.

The Power Finder 4G -

I tested out the Power Finder 4G which is the perfect all-rounder device. It uses 4G signal to connect and show an accurate real time location. It’s a sturdy device that’s splash proof, versatile and boasts an impressive battery life of up to 90 days on standby which makes it the perfect “set it and forget it device”.

As a travel blogger I’ve heard so many horror stories about cases going missing in an airport or in cruise terminals, so the Power Finder 4G would be perfect to ensure your case makes it on board with you. It would also be a great option for road trips to ensure your car or valuables remain safe.

There are a huge variety of alarms that you can set, including an alert that’s triggered when the device leaves a specific radius, a speed warning or a motion alarm, making it easy to adapt to multiple scenarios.

The device itself is simple - it’s basically a very robust water-resistant box with a charging port, but it’s the PAJ interface that makes the tracker really shine.

The PAJ GPS Interface -

One of my biggest bug bears with GPS trackers is where PAJ shines. Too often you’re given a vague location on a map and expected to simply head to the area and hope for the best - in fact, several YouTubers have tried to use Apple AirTags in challenges to no avail. The PAJ GPS interface completely solves this.

When you register your tracker you’ll have access to the finder portal. Once you log in you’ll be greeted with a map with your tracker’s exact location. From the device menu you can choose whichever device you’d like to track (meaning you can manage multiple trackers from one account), see the device status and set alarms. Once you click on a device you’ll see the battery percentage, speed, when the device last registered with the server, the device status and the device’s current location with a link to get directions in Google Maps. You can also download a route map, choosing how much of the device history you want to include - this could be vital in the case of stolen possessions.

This is truly one of the most useful tracking interfaces I’ve seen, and it’s a breath of fresh air next to the big name brands which just aren’t quite getting it right!

Price Point -

At £150 for the Power Finder 4G, it is one the pricier end of the market. For comparison, Apple AirTags are £120 for a pack of four. Having said that, you get a lot more usability from the Power Finder 4G. The number of function options you have access to, the ability to configure the device in a way that suits you, and the sturdiness of the design make it a much more premium and useful product which, in my mind, justifies the higher price tag.

Final Thoughts -

The Power Finder 4G is a really impressive piece of kit. Built to last and applicable to almost any scenario, this GPS tracker is worth the money to potentially save your valuables from being stolen one day. If you’re simply throwing a tracker in your bag to make sure your clothes get onto the plane or cruise ship then I don’t necessarily think that this is the tracker for you.

However, if you’re transporting something valuable or travelling with something you need to keep safe - like camera equipment to document your adventure - then it’s worth splashing out to get a device that you know will keep your items safe for a long time to come.
