contains gifted products
Hey Owlets,
It’s that time of year again where we all torture ourselves about what to get the people that have everything, don’t want anything, need nothing or never seem to be home. I love finding the perfect gift for people, but it can feel so stressful. So, since my family is tiny, I thought I could use my time to help you find the perfect gift for the people who you totally draw a blank with! In this guide we’ll bye focusing on what to get the travel lovers in your life, but in the second part of my gift guide series we’ll be looking at how to help someone take time for self care. So, let’s jump straight in!
Portable Skincare - Soap bar and holder from Donna May London
Travelling makes it really difficult to be kind to the environment, and if you are kind to the environment then you’re probably not being kind to your skin. The struggle of deciding whether to bring minis, decant products or use low waste products always seems to come with a compromise, but this soap bar and carry case is the answer to a very long standing problem.
Donna May London has a range of incredible smelling soap bars that are kind to skin as well as the environment. The packaging is fully recyclable and the soaps last a long time. If you’re giving this to a travel lover then you can also pick up the soap case to keep it clean and stop it from leaking on your things when you’re travelling. If you’re buying for the eco-conscious traveller then this an amazing option!!
Passport Cover and Luggage Tag set - Primaberry
Anyone who travels a lot will be used to the struggle of not being able to instantly recognise their bag among a sea of near-identical black suitcases, or seeing their passport holding on by a thread! Passport covers and luggage tags are always a brilliant present - and you can never have too many luggage tags. If you know the gift receiver’s favourite colour then keep this in mind for an extra thoughtful gift, but if not then just choose a cool pattern. Primaberry have loads of different designs, but this blue airplane pattern is perfect if you’re not sure what to pick!
If you’re looking for a practical present for your travel obsessed love one, then you can’t get much better than a cable tidy. To this day when I travel I still end up in a mess of tangled leads and misplaced chargers. This cable tidy allows you to keep each lead separate and all in one place, and the wrap around tie holds them there so they’re still need when you reach the destination. If you’re buying for someone that travels with loads of technology then this a great option!
A Travel Journal (and pens!) - Maz Leyden
One of the things that I love as a travel blogger is being able to look back on previous trips through pictures and video, but not everything happens while the camera is on - some things happen in a split second and then it’s gone forever. This is why I love travel journals - having the opportunity to write down the things that you’ve learnt or something that’s made you smile that day makes that memory last a lifetime. For bonus points, choose something personalised - this could be their name, or a phrase that they’re always known for saying. Anything that makes them smile! I’m also trying to support more small businesses this year and buy from more of a mixture of brands. Buying from a small business helps someone live their dream and also means you can find something more unique like this stunning design from Maz Leyden. If you’re struggling to know where to start with finding small businesses to shop from, then scroll through Instagram or look at Etsy for inspiration.
Something to remind them of you - Primaberry
If someone is travelling for an extended period of time then it’s easy to start feeling a little homesick. Giving your loved one the gift of something to take with them to remind them of home and (hopefully!) bring a smile to their face is a really solid gift idea. I personally have a few pieces of jewellery that I always wear and I love them because they have meaning behind them. This gorgeous bracelet from Primaberry would fill that role perfectly, and they have a few different styles to choose from.
If you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know that Prezzybox is one of my favourite brands - they just seem to get everything so spot on, and they’ve done it again with the travelogue. The folder contains planning pages, a scratch off map for each region and pages to fill in as a travel journal. This is a brilliant gift for someone planning an extended trip, or if they travel a lot throughout the year. It also all tucks back into the small folder so it’s well designed to carry on a trip.
An Experience Voucher - Red Letter Days
I’m a firm believer of “memories over things” and if you know anyone else that’s like this, then I always recommend buying them a voucher for an experience. Having said that, it can be an impossible task to know what they would like to do. The Red Letter Days Christmas box has you covered - there are hundreds of experiences to choose from, from afternoon tea or a river cruise to zip lining or rock climbing. This is like giving a gift card in terms of ease, but so much better! A lot of these things tend to be London-centric, but my main reason for choosing the Red Letter Days voucher is because the experiences are evenly spread out across the whole country, so there’s something for everyone. A portion of the sales also go to charity too!
One of the best gifts for travel lovers is simply something that they wouldn’t have thought of but is useful. Dr Paw Paw offer a travel size set of multipurpose balms that are perfect to take on trips. There is a clear formula as well as brown tinted and pink tinted versions, and the set comes with a mini size of each. These balms can be used on lips, as a hand cream, cuticles or even as nourishing makeup. They’re a brilliant all rounder gift for anyone who’s short on space when they travel.
If your loved one is a budget traveller then they’ve probably experienced the pain of a redeye flight, taking an overnight bus to save money or sleeping in a hostel full of inconsiderate people who turn the light on at 3am. Eye masks are an absolute lifesaver for all of these situations, and it’s even better if it gives them a little luxury. This stunning silk option from Pam Weinstock is perfect, and it comes in multiple colours (all based on her photography).
The Perfect Day Bag - Primaberry
If the person you’re shopping for is more of a luxury traveller then they might be used to carrying a bit more luggage and swapping to a smaller bag for days out - this is definitely what I do! With that in mind, a great gift would be an amazing day bag. I personally love something where you can see everything that you’re carrying but also keeps your items secure. I love this one from Primaberry, mainly for the story behind it. Cork is a very popular material in Portugal, and this cork bag is printed with the typical design of windows that you would see in Lisbon which is my favourite city! So yes, I’m biased about the design (don’t worry, they have loads to choose from) but the bags themselves are also designed with travellers in mind. There are several different styles with lots of pockets that provide easy access to everything you need.
