9 Ways to Make Extra Income

*This is a sponsored guest post, not written by me*

A 2018 survey by Bankrate.com found that nearly four in 10 Americans had a side job, and two years later, that percentage has likely increased with more and more finding it necessary to earn extra income. Fortunately, there are lots of options these days that go well beyond newspaper delivery or waiting tables.

Tutor Online

You don't have to be a certified teacher to teach online, with quite a few tutoring sites seeking people to help children and adults master a subject, from learning English as a second language to math, science, and history. Sites like Tutor.com, SmartThiking, VIPKid, and My Tutor 24 are just a few of the options. You need to know your subject matter well and have good communication skills to make $10 to $35 an hour depending on experience and the site.

Put Your Musical Talents to Work

If you're a singer or musical artist of any type, there are apps available where you can be hired for jobs around the country, to play at a party, club, conference, or just about any special event. For example, you can be part of the "musicians for hire Minneapolis," or in any city where you live or wish to be hired, and those who are looking for your talents will find you without having to go through a booking agent.

Grocery Shop for Others

Grocery shopping services have become increasingly popular, initially meant for elderly, disabled, and busy people, they've extended to just about everyone with stay at home orders and those who wish to limit contact with others. That means there are plenty of opportunities to earn extra money by shopping for people in your area, such as enrolling with a service like Instacart.

Rent a Room

If you have an extra room in your home or apartment that you aren't using, renting it out is a great way to earn extra money fast and provide a relatively stable monthly income.

 Rent Out Your Car

There are also options to rent your car for extra income, kind of like an Airbnb, but for a vehicle.  Sites like Getaround and Turo allow you to set your own rates and will keep you protected with $1 million in liability insurance.

Set Up a Side Hustle

A lot of influencers that you see online that talk about making money do a lot of different things, not just online. I recently saw an influencer set up a prop business for events and photo shoots. I've been obsessing over what Dallas Flower Wall offer for so long, so it's great to see similar businesses popping up that are more local to me. If you're in the blogger/PR/events world then prop hire is a great option for a business that you can do part time.

Play Games

While you probably won't earn a ton of money, if you like to play online games, check out sites like Paid Game Player, Bingo Mania, Point Club, and Inbox Dollars to earn cash while having fun.

Translate

If you're bilingual or multilingual you can earn very good money by being a freelance translator. There are a ton of opportunities for translating everything from English to Spanish, Italian, German, French, Korean, Japanese (and vice versa) - pretty much every language combination you can think of. The pay depends on the particular task, languages, and your skills, typically ranging from around $30 to $50 an hour.

Walk Dogs

If you like dogs, there are lots of people who don't have time to walk their own. You might start your own business or sign up with a site like Rover which allows you to set your own rates and offer other services like pet sitting, house sitting, and boarding.

Watch Online Videos

If you've got the time and video ads don't drive you crazy, companies need people to test them, allowing you to make extra income on sites like Swagbucks by watching for a certain number of minutes, earning points that can be redeemed for cash.

Become a Delivery Person

If you're looking for an extra job on the side then consider become a delivery driver. A lot of companies are looking to hire someone to deliver their products at the moment, and most have apps that you can log into as and when you're ready to take on extra work.
