Travelling Whilst Freelancing

*Contains Sponsored Content*

Being a travel blogger means that I’m always on the go. From cruises to flights, no day is the same anymore. I’ve been travelling so much lately that it’s hard to find the time to sit down and actually start creating and typing up the content. I really love creating videos and Instagram Stories whilst I’m out and about, but a blog post is the most valuable as it can be shared for years to come and referred back to to help others. I don’t always need to wait until I’m back home and comfortable to start writing, sometimes deadlines won’t allow that, which means I need to find a way to work while I’m travelling. Here’s a couple tricks I’ve picked up along the way.

Hot Desking

Lots of cities now have places where you can hot desk, this is usually a building where they have open spaces for freelancers and business people to go and work for the day. There is usually fast wifi and amenities like tea, coffee, comfy seating, meeting room tables so that you have every need covered. Not only is a working environment the best for being productive, but you never know who you’re sitting across from. Perhaps you could network and meet new connections while you’re there too, leading to more work! While working in new places, make sure you familiarise yourself with the rules of the office and your surroundings. After years of fairly lax rules, a lot of offices are starting to install a vape detector alongside the standard smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. When working in a new place, you don't want to cause problems on day one!

Coffee Shops

It really does depend on what sort of worker you are if you can work in a coffee shop environment or not. Depending on where you are, they can be really busy and distracting. It can be a bit of a worry leaving your things whilst you get another drink or head to the bathroom, which means working out of coffee shops definitely isn’t for everyone.

Hotels

Depending on where you’re staying whilst travelling, you might already have a desk in your room. However with pods becoming more and more popular, you might not have anything but a bed and we all know how working from bed can go! Hotel lobbies can be a great place for working, they’re often quieter with little to no interruptions, and some even have a hotel bar near by for coffee and snacks.
