How To Let Long Distance Friends Know You're Thinking of Them

As I’ve been blogging for so long, I’ve made friends all over the country but it can be hard to stay in touch with them. From jobs to kids, to social lives or even illnesses, it’s very difficult to keep up with people that you don’t see often. So, how do you let long-distance friends know you’re thinking of them? Here are a few ideas I’ve come up with and use myself.

Social Media

Tag your friends in posts that remind you of them, or that would make them laugh. You always see friends and family tagging each other in funny things on Facebook and it’s a nice little way to let someone know you’re thinking of them. A simple tweet, resharing a memory or popping up a photo of you together can let them know that you’re thinking of them. Social media is also a great way to keep up with friends if they post a lot, usually, bloggers post everything about their lives online so I don’t miss much with some friends but you never know what’s going on behind the scenes, so reach out from time to time and ask.

Send Them A Little Something

Why not send your friends a personalised card to let them know you’re thinking of them? You can add personal nicknames and photos, and you don’t need an occasion to send a job, although it would be super cute if they just got a new job, became pregnant, moved house etc! A little something every now and again is a great way to keep your friendship exciting too. Perhaps you could try writing to each other?

Send Them A Big Something

Depending on your budget, you could send them their favourite meal via Deliveroo or Uber Eats. Maybe some flowers to brighten their week. I know friends who will just send other friends little gifts every few months of what they’ve been talking about, from beauty products to beauty boxes, flowers, chocolates, brownies and more. Of course, you can always do something more special around occasions but gifting is always exciting!

Watch Party/Spotify Party

Have you heard about Netflix watch parties? You can set up to watch a film at the same time as your friend and when you pause it on one side, it pauses on the other! How cool is that? You can be texting away your thoughts on the film as there’s even a bar on the side for messages. A seriously fun feature. You can invite your entire group of friends and all chat away whilst watching your movie of choice. Make it a regular monthly or weekly thing as you’d both probably be watching a film every month/week anyway! Spotify Party is another great way to spend time with your friend whilst doing your own thing, you could put songs on for each other throughout the day and if you like a bit of fun, speak via the songs.
